Dear Mme Cardinal, I would like to express my appreciation for the very interesting and useful workshops that you recently gave in CIDA on "Stress Management", and in French, "Gestion de stress". A few years ago, the Public Service of Canada conducted a government wide extensive survey of its workforce, and one of its findings was that a high percentage of its employees were suffering from "stress". It was clear that this problem was indeed an issue in CIDA as well. For some time I had been looking for approaches to deal with this problem, so when I became aware of your workshops on "Stress Management", I was very interested to try it here. I must say that I have not been disappointed; the feed back from participants has been excellent. Many commented that it helped them to realize that much of the stress is generated by ourselves and our attitudes, and consequently we have quite a bit of power to effect change. Others came to appreciate better the relationship between healthy living, particularly food, exercise and meditation, and stress. In all, these workshops were very succesful and I am encouraging our Personnel Division to make it a regular feature of our training programs.
